Fayette Family Medicine
Practicing good horse sense in the heart of horse country.
Do you have a personal doctor? Do you live in or near the Lexington, Kentucky, area? Family doctor Andrea Skaggs, M.D., with her practice in Lexington, Kentucky, believes that the most important part of a personal physician’s work is nurturing the personal relationships she shares with her patients and has scaled back her overhead to better achieve this end. Her philosophy is simple.
The American health-care system has a lot of problems, many of which come from the big-business notion that more is better: patients should have more doctors, doctors should see more patients, hospitals should have more beds, medicine should be more widely distributed . . . more, more, more. Dr. Skaggs does not agree with the impersonal, high-dollar assumptions of that model; by keeping her practice small, she spends more time really getting to know and understand you, just as a family doctor ought. As your personal physician, she will work with you to bring a harmonious balance to the relationship between your body, your physician, your family, and your community. Quality health care is a total package, and the caring family physician should help you work toward that goal rather than against it, as is too often the case with the big-business models of medicine.
If you live in or near the Lexington area, Andrea Skaggs, M.D., would love to be your personal and family doctor. She has raised her own family in Lexington, Kentucky, since 1992. Trained at the University of Kentucky Department of Family & Community Medicine, she graduated with high distinction in 1997. Completing her Family and Community Medicine residency in 2000, she has practiced near her home and community in south central Lexington ever since.
If you are in search of a quality caring family physician in or near the Lexington area, Dr. Skaggs is currently accepting new patients. Her office is located on the main campus of Central Baptist Hospital, and same-day appointments are typically available for established patients. Dr. Skaggs’ services include acute adult and child care (ages two and up), as well as disease management and wellness promotion. If this sounds interesting or you would like to learn more, contact her office to set up an appointment or talk with her further. Dr. Andrea Skaggs would love to be your personal and family physician.
I jumped off the hamster wheel of “more is better” medicine because I am dedicated to the notion people are not widgets and can’t be treated on an assembly line. Good health is a process, not an “episode of care.” My goal is to facilitate that process for each person I see as his or her personal physician.
—Annie Skaggs, MD
